An Archie's Love For David

If it takes a thousand words to describe a single photograph, then it must take millions to describe an entire person. I can’t hope to reach that number now, but I’m going to try to tell you some of the reasons why I love David Archuleta, and I sincerely hope I can do him justice.
One of the very first reasons that comes to mind about why I love David is also the reason why we were all drawn to David in the first place: his voice. David has such a beautiful gift, that has the power to reach out to people; to tell wonderful stories that leave his listeners breathless with emotion through the songs that he sings, and last but most certainly far from least, touch hearts.
Then, there are the songs that he sings; songs that are filled to the brim not only with positivity, but also things that we can relate to. David puts his heart into his singing, and anybody who has heard him can testify to that. These songs, blended together with his voice, is an absolutely beautiful combination.
While it was music that first brought David to my attention, it isn’t just his voice that has kept me such an ardent fan for three years. His personality has played a crucial role here, too. David is one of the sweetest people I will probably ever have the privilege of meeting, and he has so many other great qualities as well, such as his generosity, and his good heart. He genuinely does care about his fans, and though he doesn’t say he “loves” us very often, it’s that rarity that makes hearing him say it all the more special, because then we know that he really does mean it.
Nobody in this world is capable of being perfect, however, and the truth is that David Archuleta is no exception to this rule either, and it’s a tall order from anyone to expect him to be the impossible. He isn’t perfect, but I still think he’s amazing, because every single part of David makes him who he is, and I support him because he’s David.
So, who is he, then? Well, David is the only one who is qualified enough to define himself properly, but if there’s one thing I know about him, it’s that he’s determined to stick to what he believes in, and continue to be himself. David doesn’t need to put on a show of any kind (spare singing on stage), or act like someone he’s not, because we love him for being him, not for being anyone else.
Of course, change is eminent as the only constant, and we can see that in how David has changed as a performer, and as a person as well. He’s a much more confident performer on stage now, and I would say that he himself is more confident, too. We have watched him grow, and honestly, I know I have grown with him. I’ve grown up listening to and supporting David now, and I’m looking forward to doing so for a long, long, time to come.
David is only twenty at this point in time, and already, he has accomplished and given so much, especially in the form of his time, effort and love. He’s done a great good by sharing his gift with the world – with us – and we should be thankful for that. Our time with David has a long way to go, and I know he has yet to reach his full potential, because he has so much inside of him, but he needs his time, too.
We all know how much David loves music, and I for one strongly believe that he’ll never turn away from it, but sometimes, he might need to take things slow. No one can keep chugging on endlessly, and all of us need to take time off to rejuvenate; to refill ourselves with inspiration. I’m going to say that David needs to do this too every now and then; to just take in life. He also has to make music on his own time – some of the best things do come out of spontaneity – not because he has to work within and around deadlines.
This fan base has been through its fair share of ups and downs – times of excitement when we can barely keep up, and long droughts – but through it all, the Archies are still a family. We have been through thick and thin together, and I know that I speak for many people when I say that I have made and met some amazing friends through supporting David.
No matter what happens and what decisions David makes now, or later on in life, I will respect them and continue to always stand by him. After all, David knows what is best for him, and the important thing here is that he has to be happy. Being an Archie isn’t always easy, but we do it because David deserves to have people who support and love him, and that’s what we’ll always do: support and love David.
PS: I also posted this on FanScene. Thanks to my friends who gave their feedback when I was still writing this.
