Project 15: First Draft Complete

May 12, 2012 in , ,

I finished it two days ago, so I'm now working on something else for an uncle of mine, which is actually proving to be quite a good writing exercise. I like the way P15 ended, though I know I need to work out more things in the body. After giving it some breathing space, I'll write the second draft. I have a good idea on what I want to focus on more, including added character development for my main ones, and more "screen time" for a couple of sub-characters.

Then there's the matter of P14. I haven't gotten around to the third draft yet, and I think it's had enough time to marinade in it's own juices. This time, I'm going to do a proper outline for it, stare at that, then see what needs to be shuffled around instead of just doing it as I go along. Also, I'm debating how good it would be to print the whole thing out (double-sided, of course), and get a different perspective on it, not to mention write notes in the margins. I really want to try this technique since I've heard it helps, but what's holding me back is the environmental aspect of it since it'll be a hundred pages double-sided, and I'm not even sure if it will work well for me. If it does, then I don't mind, but if it barely helps, then it's going to be a huge waste of paper. Any advice for a writer who is still trying to find what works best for her?
