I Have Won NaNoWriMo!
Three years since I first found out about this literary madness adventure, and 50,110 words later, I have officially won NaNoWriMo. To be honest, I wasn't really sure if I would win, because I'd never tried something on this scale before. But as the thousands wore on, I realized that not completing wasn't an option. I told myself that I wouldn't waste the words that I had already written, and that I absolutely had to finish what I started here. So even when I lagged a horrid amount of words behind, I refused to give in, and tied myself to my computer, until I had written enough words to help me catch up.
The last week or so of NaNoWriMo was pretty hard, and on one of the days, I wrote over 5,000 words, far exceeding my previous record of 3,000+. It was exhilarating to know that I could actually do it.
It was also scary though, to know that I had invested so much time into it already, but I think I would still consider this challenge a fun one. It taught me that I could write 5,000 words in a day, and that 1,000 really isn't so much. Just last year, my opinion on word count was quite different, but now, I know that when you need to catch up on your NaNoWriMo Novel, being behind by 3,000 words feels very little, and when you're nearing 50,000 words, writing another 1,000 words feels like a breeze.
So here I am now, with 50,110 words to show for this adventure, and an almost-finished novel that has finally been put down into words after living in my head for almost two years.
I wanted to say thank you to my parents, especially my mom, for bring so supportive of me, and of course, God, for giving me the strength to complete it. ♥
